"Sydney commuters travelled on CityRail trains for free today with rail workers refusing to sell or check tickets as part of an ongoing industrial campaign against RailCorp."

AND I CAN GLADLY SAY THAT I WAS PART OF IT :D Well, kinda. Coz I'm a schoolboy, I get 'free' ticket rides to and from school everyday. BUT today was like, full-on no barriers, so there was no need for nobody to buy/show/put-in a ticket. Even those who wanted to buy a ticket anyway were rejected XD No barriers at Museum, no barriers at Town Hall... yeah, those 2 I can confirm. Surprisingly, though, this actually might have worked (the strike, that is). RailCorp lost an estimated $2 million in sales. $2 million!!! in sales!!! That's a lotta tickets... And to think all this was just because of union members wanting to secure a 5% wage rise without staff cuts, and the State Government saying NO, saying that you can't increase it over 2.5%. Check out the pic: all over the CityRail network, you would see open barriers and gates, and those dodgey white sheets of paper with an arrow or a cross on them to indicate direction, but besides that- Oh, and you'll see that stoner Asian guy :L And for the daily commuters to the city, is that shot really from Wynyard station???
I bet everyone in that pic will vote for the MP who will continue to say NO to the union so that they could ride for free everyday. (Y)
